This antique, circa 1900, French Aubusson rug has a fox-brown field with diagonal rows of soft terracotta-brown four petal flowerheads, an outer band of linked laurel leaves linking a polychrome floral bouquet in each corner, the golden-yellow roundel in the centre surrounded by bands of leafy-floral and polychrome flowerheads around a cusped rosette, in a broad fox-brown border of terracotta-red acanthus leaf and flowerhead vine between soft-terracotta-brown and sandy-yellow plain stripes.
