This antique Serapi rug has an ivory field with a polychrome tendril vine issuing serrated leaves, bold palmettes and smaller flowerheads around a large central sky-blue and shaded red cusped medallions with palmette pendants, the central lozenge issuing angular palmette vine and flowerheads and in the blue outer medallion an acanthus leaf issuing tulip flowers linking delicate tendril floral vine, the sky-blue, shaded red and ivory spandrels similar, in a shaded red border of ivory turtle-palmettes alternating with cusped leaf and palmette and floral vine between ivory polychrome floral stripes.
