This antique French Savonnerie rug has a reddish brown field with a large central ivory roundel containing a central golden-yellow and ivory rosette surrounded by narrow golden-yellow and light blue bands and issuing shaded red, pink and lilac bold acanthus leaf sprays, at each side three light blue circular roundels in decreasing sizes containing a star-motif in the largest supported by paired acanthus leaves issuing polychrome floral garlands and delicate leafy and floral sprays, in a dusty-pink curved framed border outlined with a gold stripe with shell-motifs at each side and light blue and sky-blue acanthus leaves supporting the circular blue roundels and issuing a large horn shaped bouquets, a curved bold sky-blue and light blue acanthus leaf in each corner, outer apricot linked lozenge and a narrow golden-brown minor stripes.
