This antique Serapi rug has a tomato-red field with an angular vine issuing a variety of flowerheads together with eight golden-yellow lions around a large central fox-brown medallion with palmette pendants, a central tomato-red and shaded blue cusped lozenge containing an ice-blue central lozenge with a tomato-red flowerhead surrounded by delicate shaded pink and charcoal-black angular vine linking polychrome outwardly facing palmettes, the ivory spandrels with a dusty-pink palmette surrounded by angular serrated leaf and polychrome floral vine, in a shaded indigo-blue border of polychrome turtle-palmettes linked by angular flowerhead leafy vine between fox-brown meandering floral vine stripes.
