This traditional hand-woven French Savonnerie rug has a fox-brown field with grand polychrome scrolling acanthus leaf vine around a central chestnut roundel panel outlined by an indigo meandering acanthus vine stripe containing delicate linked floral swags linked to stylized bouquets issuing further floral sprays, with a large open cartouche at each side issuing a scrolling curled acanthus plant, around a central fox-brown oval lozenge enclosing a radiating rosette centerpiece surrounded by a dense profusion of musical instruments and scrolling acanthus leaf vine, in a linked acanthus vine border, outer plain chestnut brown stripe.
