This traditional hand-woven Persian Serapi rug has an extremely fine shaded green field of ivory acanthus vine lozenge lattice with inner rust lozenge lattice, each enclosing polychrome rosettes, with a gold arabesque medallion surrounded by serrated salmon tendrils enclosing a stepped brick-red inner medallion of polychrome floral head radiating palmettes issuing further palmettes, with similar ivory-indigo spandrels, in a brick-red border of alternating polychrome floral heads issuing stylized linked garlands and angled tendrils, between ivory-sandy floral vine stripes.
