This vintage, circa 1860, Chinese rug has a deep charcoal black field with a central oval formed by a stylized dragon, a peacock, cloud motifs and an undulating ground, in a broad oval band of scrolling light-green, apricot and shaded pink floral and leafy vines, an inner smaller similar band with light-green key-pattern panels, in each corner a large perching peacock.
