This antique, circa 1870, Khotan rug has a coral-red field with three large shaded pink roundels each containing a central roundel containing a flowerhead issuing angular floral vine, an outer band of flowerheads, surrounded by flowering plants and delicate floral sprays, the key-pattern spandrels in each corner, in a soft aubergine-purple double striped border the inner with a linked key-pattern and the outer with a cloud motif, plain outer aubergine-purple plain stripe.
