This antique, circa 1890, Indian Agra rug has a golden-yellow and shaded biscuit brown field with an overall design of scrolling ivory arabesque vine linking and enclosing small burgundy-red flowerheads and shield and ivory floral motifs around a bold sea-blue cusped panel across the centre of the field with delicate floral vine and paired burgundy-red flowerheads, flanked at each end with rows three similarly colored but decreasing in size palmettes each containing a central flowerhead and issuing stems terminating in a flowerhead of burgundy or ivory, in a broad ivory border of burgundy flowerheads and leafy delicate vine, plain outer burgundy-red stripe.
