This antique, circa 1880, Khotan rug has an eau-de-nil field with an overall design of light terracotta-red vertical panel containing a central pole-motif issuing from a small vase, a delicate floral vine terminating with a pomegranate, the panel also issuing dense horizontal rows of angular similar floral vine terminating with a pomegranate, in a light terracotta-red border of polychrome diagonal key-pattern panels, outer polychrome cloud-motif and zig-zag panel stripe and a further chocolate-brown linked lozenge stripe.
