This traditional hand-woven French Beauvais rug has woven in wools and silks, depicting a pair of musicians in the center within a stylized stage with a large velvet draped canopy with tassel ends, the checkered stage floor with a dense band of leafy vine below with stylized hanging lozenges and an angular geometric motif wall, above a stylized plinth with a pair of tied hanging ribbons each supporting a pair of X-motif arrow cases and a circular floral band around a central plinth issuing a fabric swag and floral garland also supporting a central vase issuing a delicate floral spray flanked by stepped plinths, with perching birds and floral vines terminating in stylized corner curtain pediment, the oak-leaf frame border.
